What we have done

Basic and detailed design for the new utilities production and distribution systems used in the production process.  Supervision of assembly and commissioning, including hardware supply and set-up of the new supervision and control system (DCS).

  • COMPANY
    Trelleborg Wheel Systems is a leading supplier of tires and wheels systems for agricultural and forestry machinery, forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
  • REQUIREMENT
    Construction of the first production facility in North America dedicated to the production of premium radial tires for tractors and agricultural machinery in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States.
  • SOLUTION
    Based on experience acquired at the Client’s plant in Tivoli (Rome), the team developed the basic and detailed design for the generating plant and for utilities distribution as well as the machines used for vulcanizing tires (BOMSs).

    The basic design started with a consumption analysis, mass and energy balance analysis, fluid dynamic calculations, as well as preparation of the P & IDs.

    Mechanical engineering was carried out using a 3D modeling program that allowed to extract the detailed tables (up to the isometrics); a stress test analysis on the main pipes was also run.
    The electro-instrumental design provided details of the interconnections and the materials list (cable list, cable trays, instruments), as well as specifications for construction bids.

    Our technical staff and management worked side by side with the Client on site in Spartanburg supervising both electrical and mechanical assembly and commissioning related to the generating plant and utilities distribution. They coordinated and checked the installation and commissioning from a technical, qualitative and scheduling point of view.

    Our team also carried out the designing of the control system (DCS), the purchasing of control panels and on-site commissioning of the system in line with the Clients’ ultimate objectives.
